Fierce Conversations Digest 2

It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog.  I apologize.  My youngest son went to Marine boot camp on 11/3/13 and I’ve been saturated with writing him every day.  I’m still writing him, but I’ve finally gotten to the point I can write him and Michael (his bestfriend) a letter AND write my blog.

When I say fierce conversation what does that suggest to you? Do you think of yelling and arguing, cruel, barbaric maybe?  A fierce conversation is none of those things.

Some of the synonyms for fierce by Roget’s Thesaurus are:

Robust, intense, strong, powerful, passionate, eager, unbridled, uncurbed, untamed.

As defined by Susan Scott, “A fierce conversation is one in which we come out from behind ourselves into the conversation and make it real.”

Do you have real conversations?  Or are they filtered through your ‘politically correct’ ‘social etiquette’ ‘can’t talk about that’ sifter? Why is this?  Are we so afraid of a real conversation that we suffer through shallow relationships?

How can you have conversations that build a foundation of true relationship?

How can you have a conversation that provokes change in yourself, someone you know, your company, your world?

How can you impact your world if you DON’T have fierce conversations?  If you don’t show courage to be the one to risk it all for change?

Being fierce is an attitude, a way of life.  How fierce are your conversations?

How can you get on the road to being fierce, leading fierce conversations?  One conversation at a time!

Start today, now! Listen to yourself as you have conversations with others.  Listen to the voice inside your head.  What are the thoughts saying that are going through your mind?  Are they fierce?  Or are they shallow thoughts? Staying the status quo?  You can’t get to fierce by staying safe! You can only get to fierce when you risk it all for change!

Look for opportunities to be fierce! Be bold! Don’t shy away from that topic you normally avoid.  Embrace it!

If you make a mistake, be transparent and authentic! Admit it, accept responsibility and move on! Try again! Don’t give up! Don’t surrender to normal!

BE FIERCE! BE COURAGEOUS! It begins with you! Today! Now!
